[D/ST post here] [Trade Value post here]
Welcome to week 7— amazingly with more than 1/3 of the season behind us!
In previous years, I’ve used a weekly front page article to direct your attention to relevant updates.
This season, I’ve considered the most relevant articles to be “10 Steps (How to get the most of this site)” and then the recent Accuracy report. Until now.
For this week, the main update is for the Betting Lines subscribers: A new article describing how you’re meant to use the new “Opening bets” table.
It’s a particular challenge to account for how to deal with bets, projections, and lines that all change over the week. The new format should make it much clearer— clearer what to do, as well as clearer how I measure accuracy.
I’m sorry the launch of the new table was not completely without error, even though most features worked. Last week the 49ers bet should have appeared as a “Sell back” (which you might have figured out if you noticed that the “Current line” was a $0 for essentially the same bet). This error, of not clearly canceling a large opening bid, will be included as a negative return in the Accuracy report. Meanwhile, the tool is fixed!
Building on the logic developed for the TapThatDraft draft tool, we recently released TAPsheets- It’s an in-season Trade Value Chart generator, that’s based on many of the same VBD principles. It converts ROS rankings from FantasyPros into projections— and then these projections are used to create Trade Values customized to your league settings.
I just posted an article about this on Reddit— about why this has certain advantages over common charts.
For other items:
Survivor tables have (sadly) now seen 1 failure in each of the 3 pathways. There was already week 2’s 49ers loss in pathway 3. Then in week 5 we saw Cardinals lose in pathway 1. This week, we saw Pathway 2 switch to the backup, after the surprise fall of the Eagles to the Giants. Whichever pathway you’re on, the pick of the week is Chiefs.
Kickers slightly rebounded in accuracy last week, while D/ST took a dip (from Colts, Eagles, and Packers).
And a final note as FYI; we might soon be offering a 1 week “Open House” promotion, for non-subscribers to peak in and see what this website is all about. You’ll hear more about it, if it comes to pass, but I wanted to give you a heads up! We don’t do this often (last time was maybe 3 years ago?), but I think it’s a good chance to give a glimpse and showcase what I do here.
Good luck week 7. I’ve got positive vibes so far… even with one team that’s going 1-5 right now!
