Week 9 News

  • Later in the week, I expect to supply you with Flex rankings beyond just 0.5 PPR.

  • You hopefully saw my revised analysis of “How early can you trust SoS charts?” Please read! It is somehow not one of those things that generates upvotes apparently, but it’s worth knowing that this has been investigated and settled.

  • I’m also working on analysis of “How reliable is look-ahead for D/ST” (and Kicker). Also stay tuned

Week 8 Recap

While we await the month 2 accuracy report, here’s what I saw in week 8.

  • Kicker: My accuracy is still most reliable in the sense of “least bad” among other rankers— but it’s still really surprising to see a season with such low “coin flip” predictability in general. That means, for most rankers, a lot of the top-scoring kickers come from the bottom half of rankings. And of course, what a disappointing week from Reichard, maybe we should have seen it coming, against the Lions.

  • D/ST: It was actually quite a good week for streaming D/ST, if you didn’t have Chiefs. Having Bengals so high has strangely been the downfall of the Subvertadown model, for the 3rd time that I can remember. Otherwise accuracy was okay, but this call set me middle of the pack.

  • QB: It was a good week for accuracy, but technically I lost most points because of having Lamar Jackson higher— that situation with injuries always seems a bit unfair. If you didn’t have him (or Brissett), then probably your week wasn’t bad by picking a top option.

  • Survivor: Finally a loss-less week.

  • Betting Lines: Another “close to coin flip” week, meaning a small loss. We still haven’t reversed course since the week 5 plunge, making this the most disappointing result of the week for me.

  • Flex positions: All quite good but not a stellar week. RB again did better than others, but WR lagged again after a great season start. TE was worse than others in accuracy for my first time after a great streak. This came especially from ranking Hunter Henry much higher than others did.
