Welcome to a fresh new week— some of us really need that chance for a fresh restart!

Last Week in Review (Week 6)

Game Predictions. Last week presented a number of upsets in NFL games, and the “Survivor” record really shows it. The Rams’ loss to the Cardinals showed it the most, although other surprise games revealed the “gamble-like” nature of it all: the Colts vs. Titans and the Jaguars vs. Texans in London. These (and others) also meant it was yet another down week for betting lines— 2 weeks in a row! We need to bounce back.

Flex. On the positive side of predictability: It was actually an excellent week for the playmaking fantasy positions. RB, WR, and TE were highly predictable, and moreover, this year’s new Subvertadown models led the pack in those Flex positions. Especially the TE position model has continued to perform far better than the competition that I monitor, and it leaves me wondering when we’ll see a reversal.

QB. The worst performance for comparative accuracy was the QB model, which was too high on Ward and too low on Stroud.

Streaming. Otherwise, the week’s story for streaming is that it was tough for all ranking sources… But luckily, the accuracy numbers supported that Subvertadown models did better, in comparative terms. These were example calls that boosted overall accuracy:

  • D/ST: Correctly lower than others on Colts, Jaguars and Eagles. Correctly higher than others on Packers, Bears, and Browns.

  • Kicker: Correctly lower than others on Pineiro. Correctly higher than others on Bass, Gay, and Fitzgerald.

As always, I know your personal roster might not have been affected by these players. But I make these observations to remind us that we can trust the process, even if things seemed to go sour. Because, as I mentioned, it was a rough week for rankers: Aubrey, Grupe, and Loop all busted at Kicker. And at D/ST, the Rams and Panthers were bad calls for everyone. The Titans were the only really high scoring Defense, and of course nobody made that call!

Week 7

No major site updates to announce this week— at least not yet.

Decimal Kicker Scoring. I performed an analysis last week, to guide you about kicker scoring when your league settings set a minimum 3 points for each field goal. That would be in contrast to full decimal leagues which allow short FGs to count less. The result? It’s very similar to the current Decimal Kicker projections that I already provide. If you wanted to be more precise about it, you could blend 90% Decimal with “10% Standard”… but in reality that would only ever flip one or two kickers in the ranking.

Streaming this week. There are many decent D/ST options among the top 8. And it’s also easy to find a Kicker streamer this week, with unowned Kickers appearing at the top. Note that the games themselves look tricky: Most of the games are expected to be decided within 4 points, according to Vegas. So that makes for a lot of close matchups.

Returning players. A lot of the Flex positions projections are very “iffy” seen from Tuesday, as we still await news of returning players. Remember you can always use the Player Inquiry tool (bottom of D/ST page) if you want to check on what roster changes have been accounted for.

Good luck once again,
